Mama Africa is an annual TV show dedicated to celebrating mothers from African Caribbean origin in the UK on Mother’s day.

Now in its second year, Mama Africa seeks for the epitome of ‘Mama Africa’ - a woman who embodies the essence of motherhood. It’s a celebration and appreciation of mothers in all their glory.

Mama Africa was born out of an appreciation for all mothers; for their struggles, endeavours, strength, love, devotion and the pride and joy that they drive and instil in us - their children.

Family and the appreciation of the family is very strong in Nigeria and Maltina felt that it was imperative to sponsor this programme.

Live on HiTV the ‘Mama Africa’ team went in search of mothers from all over the UK to spread thanks and appreciation and to find the ultimate ‘Mama Africa’. Sons and daughters were given the opportunity to write to the television studios and explain why their mothers should be considered for the ‘Mama Africa’ annual award. After reading 1,000's of applications, four lucky mothers were picked to go onto the show for a chance to win the ultimate ‘Mama Africa’ prize – a fabulous trip to Paris and a year’s supply of Maltina.

The ultimate 'Mama Africa' was Mrs Essenam from Dartford. Mrs Essenam was thrilled with her prize and thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Paris.
