The fascinating story of Tusker began 89 years ago when a great heritage was created by two visionary men with a true passion for adventure and enterprise. It started in 1922 when the two brothers Charles and George Hunt decided to brew beer in two copper vessels heated with firewood. After that, they delivered the beer by horse and carriage to the Stanley Hotel in the Nairobi CBD, making the beginning of an iconic heritage that has until today stirred the spirit of friendship and warmth among the people of Kenya and beyond.
Tragically though, George was killed by a rogue elephant the year after he and his brother Charles ' invented' Tusker. But the iconic legacy he and his brother created lives on till today much loved and enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
Tusker has been brewed in East Africa since 1922. Named after the elephant that killed one of the brewery's founders, Tusker Lager has become part of East Africa's rich heritage.
Tusker is brewed with high quality malt, from equatorial barley grown at the base of Mt Kenya, using the choisest hops and water that springs from the renowned Aberdare mountain ranges. Tusker's famous crisp, refreshing taste and finest quality has continuously earned gold medals in the prestigious International Monde Selection Awards.
